We have opened up the teachneli website so that schools that registered for the 2020-21 DfE NELI programme can now also access it.
The NELI lead at your school can create an account to register new trainees and track progress.

Create NELI account

Please nominate a lead contact for your school who will support in implementing and monitoring the delivery of NELI. You can complete this form if you are the NELI lead yourself, or on their behalf. The NELI lead could be, for example, your early years lead, inclusion lead, SENDCo, or an assistant/deputy head. Their role will involve nominating the staff who will access the online training, completing surveys that monitor delivery of the sessions to pupils and take part in training if they wish.

If you provided information that the NELI lead is a Reception class teacher, early years educator, teaching assistant or non class-based teacher, they will automatically receive an invitation to the training. If you suggested your NELI lead had a different role in school they do not have to take part in NELI training but they can opt in.

To confirm participation on the programme, schools must agree to the programme terms. The headteacher is required to complete an online form agreeing to the terms and this will register your school to receive the programme.

Typically, schools have 1 group of 3-6 pupils accessing NELI per Reception class and therefore usually need 1 NELI kit (the pack of physical materials needed to delivery NELI to pupils) per Reception class.

Usually, there is 1 NELI group per class which requires training 1 member of staff to deliver NELI to pupils (usually a teaching assistant) and the Reception class teacher is also required to undertake some training.
Your nominated NELI lead, if they are not a Reception class teacher already expected to receive training, could additionally opt to take part in training if they’d like. Therefore, a one-form entry school usually nominates 3 members of staff for training and a two-form entry school usually nominates 5 members of staff.
